![]() Many years ago, a friend shared a perspective I have never forgotten. It had been a few years since his youngest son graduated from our Christian school, and he was reflecting on his and his wife's choices. He said, “When our two boys became school-age, my wife and I prayed about where to enroll them. We chose Christian education. When we think back to all those years of tuition payments, and add them up, it was a pretty big number! And we realized we could have purchased some really nice cars then. But today, where would those cars be? They would probably be rusting in a junkyard somewhere. Instead, we chose to sacrifice and invest in something eternal. And now, as we look at our boys' godly characters and career successes, we know without a doubt that we made the right choice.” As parents, we have many choices regarding our children’s education and finances—where to spend, where to sacrifice, and where to invest. For nearly 80 years, parents have invested in their children’s future here at Wilmington Christian School. As eternal biblical truths are modeled, taught, and learned daily in classrooms, performing arts spaces, athletic arenas, hallways, lunchrooms, and play areas, eternal seeds are being sown.
And God promises that these seeds will bear fruit in time: “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55: 10–11) “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6) The investment is worth it! Time is short, but God is eternal. Our time with our children is short, and each moment is precious, but each child is eternal. That is why we are privileged to partner with wise parents who choose to invest in a Christ-centered education with eternity in mind.
