Welcome to Wilmington Christian's Lower School!
In WCS’s Lower School—ages PreK-3 through fifth-grade—students are building a strong foundation for future learning. Our early learning center and elementary faculty team create classroom experiences based on a Biblical worldview and utilizing classic academic skills.
We believe that the elementary years are uniquely formative years, when students are most pliable and open to being influenced by adult role models. That’s why we take these years so seriously at WCS and why we focus on being the kind of people we want our young students to become. |
The Lower School is marked by WCS’s overall commitment to engaged learning. Walking by a classroom, it’s common to hear the sounds of students collaborating, moving around, and exploring God’s world by using hands-on learning activities. In addition to the sounds of engaged learning, you’ll often see a teacher working one-on-one with a student to provide individualized support. We understand that individual elementary students learn in different ways, and we work hard to meet the needs of each of our young learners.

Our strong emphasis on Christ-like character and servant-leadership in the elementary years supports our students’ academic progress. From the earliest grades at WCS we support healthy personal development by training our students in Godliness and in honoring others above themselves. These core developmental aims help to equip elementary-aged children to begin cultivating their environment in positive and constructive ways.
When we consider the future of our society, we are filled with hope as we partner with parents and local churches to shape our elementary students on their pathways to becoming mature Godly influencers |
